Plants in Watercolour Workshop (21 November)
Plants in Watercolour Workshop with Leticia Collins: 2–4pm Sunday 21 November.
Join artist Leticia Collins for a special watercolour painting experience with plants for both first-time and experienced artists.
If you've ever wanted to have a go at painting, whether as a creative or relaxation practice, watercolour is a great place to start. It is a simple medium that lends itself to botanical art due to its unique ability to capture the ephemeral nature of plants. Our goals for this workshop are to develop our artistic skills, to contemplate the nature of plants, and to lose ourselves in the moment of pure creativity.
You will start this workshop by learning the basics of watercolour painting to get you started with colour mixing, water colour techniques, tools, and mark making. After covering the basics, you will be ready to produce two watercolour paintings.
Your first painting will be an experimental watercolour, playing with form and negative space, colour and light. You will then paint a botanical watercolour interpreting the beauty of live plants through watercolour. This final piece could be abstract or realist, monochrome or multi-colour, big or small, to suit yourself.
Leticia Collins’ art is strongly inspired by nature and she uses watercolours to capture the ephemeral moments from the natural world. Her watercolours are painted onto paper in often experimental and abstract forms.
Leticia will have a selection of frames available to purchase for any students who would like to frame their artwork to hang at home.
All levels of experience are welcome.
