Creative Kids: Jewellery Workshop (16 January)
Creative Kids: Jewellery Workshop with Meekz Contemporary Jewellery: 10-12:30pm Saturday 16 January.
Kids are invited to work with silversmith Jemica Ostrofski these summer holidays to design and fabricate their own textured jewellery using recycled metals. You will learn basic metalsmithing techniques in this workshop, including mark-making using various hammers, letter stamps, number stamps and other tools, and add your own creative touches to produce an original piece of jewellery.
You will have the choice to make earrings, ring, necklace, brooch, cuff links, keyring, or a unique sculptural form... whatever you want to make! Jemica will provide images of designs that you can make, and you are also welcome to bring along images of jewellery ideas that you might like to make, along with a pen and paper to draw designs and take notes.
All levels of experience are welcome for this workshop. All tools and materials that are needed to produce your work are supplied, including: metal sheets (aluminium, copper or brass), findings to turn your creation into jewellery or a sculpture, industrial strength glue, an apron to wear during workshop, and a gift box or pouch to store your finished creation.
For safety reasons, please wear enclosed shoes and clothes that are not too loose to avoid them getting caught in equipment. Long hair should similarly be tied back. This workshop is suitable for kids 7 years of age or older, and younger kids are welcome if accompanied by an adult. All Plant Empire workshop presenters involving children are Blue Card holders.
Cost: $60 / $54 (Multi-pass)
