His art output consists primarily of location sketches, studio drawings and hybrid (digitally edited and assembled) drawings depicting local street views. Alan has been a finalist and prize winner in a number of Brisbane regional art\/drawing awards, including: JADA, HARD, Brisbane EKKA, Brisbane Rotary, BVAC 2026 awards and ArchiGraphicArts (Moscow). He has been invited to exhibit his work at the Venice Architecture Biennale but can’t afford the starting price. His sketches are included in The World of Urban Sketching by Stephanie Bower published in USA in 2022. In 2024, he participated as an invited urban sketching demonstrator in AsiaLink Sketchwalk (Penang).
