Watercolour and ink on paper, 40 x 40cm
I started doing this style of painting as an exercise in mindfulness. The flowers and leaves are painted first with watercolour in a random and unplanned fashion and once the paint dries, I go back in with an ink pen to see what shapes of colours and leaves appear to me.
About the artist.
I am a New Zealand born, Brisbane based graphic designer by trade who enjoys many creative outlets from baking, painting, and drawing through to sewing. I draw a lot of inspiration from plants and flowers and the many shapes and colours that occur in nature. After many years of being solely computer based with my graphic work, I got back in to drawing and then painting about five years ago. It has proven to be a great support for mental health, giving me a creative outlet that is mindful and therapeutic.
