Garden Dweller Workshop (4-25 July)
Garden Dweller Workshop with Monte Lupo Arts: 10–1pm Saturday 4–25 July.
In this four-part workshop held over four weeks in July, you will learn from artist Kim Green from Monte Lupo Arts to sculpt and decorate your own ceramic Garden Dweller to live in your garden at home.
In the first week's 3-hour workshop, you will learn a range of hand-building pottery techniques including coil building, scoring and slipping to make your basic sculpture with arms and hair. In week 2, you will sculpt your garden dweller's face and add features like a bird bath or planter along with embellishments like flowers and butterflies. When you return in the third workshop to learn about underglaze for bisque ware and how to apply different painting and glazing techniques. Your glazed piece will be fired twice following this second workshop (the final time with a clear glaze), for you to finish with mosaic tiles in the final workshop to take home.
All levels of experience are welcome for this workshop, and all materials and equipment for the workshop will be supplied. This workshop is suitable adults and children over 10. All Plant Empire workshop presenters involving children are Blue Card holders.
