Little Yogis Workshop: Dancing Yogis (19 November 2019)
Little Yogis Workshop with Porscha Cox 9–11:30am Thursday 19 November
This is the fifth in a series of fun kids' workshops that Plant Empire will be hosting for kids during the summer school holidays.
In this workshop, yoga teacher Porscha Cox will work with children to help them explore and develop connections between mind and body. Porscha will introduce children to yoga through a fun and engaging workshop that combines story-telling, movement, and stillness.
This workshop is very musical (and noisy!) with lots of dancing and percussion. Porscha will engage children with the myth of Nataraja, the King of the Dance, and teach children variations of the Natarajasana ("Lord of the Dance") yoga posture as part of a simple yoga flow sequence which kids will be able to practice after the workshop to develop flexibility, balance and mindfulness.
Children will have the opportunity to craft colourful musical instruments to use as part of their dancing, and which they can take home with them after the workshop. Little yogis will enjoy a nutritious snack at the end of the workshop while talking about the lessons that they learnt from the story, and enjoy a musical meditation to deliver calm and centred energy levels back to parents.
This workshop is targeted for school age children, and all bodies and levels of experience are welcome. Children are asked to wear comfortable clothing and bring their own yoga mat. All Plant Empire workshop presenters involving children are Blue Card holders.
