Mosaic Planter Workshop (23 February 2020)
Mosaic Planter Workshop with Jane du Rand: 9–4pm Sunday 23 February.
Mosaic is an ancient art form that uses small pieces of tiles, glass or stone to produce intricately patterned designs. Hand-made mosaics are perfectly suited to garden design due to their exciting colours, dynamic patterns, and hard-wearing finishes. Jane du Rand combines traditional mosaic methods with hand-made ceramic sculptures to create a unique, three-dimensional finish to her art.
In this workshop, you will learn to make a one-of-a-kind mosaic planter using specially made ceramic pieces by Jane du Rand. Jane will show you how to design and make the mosaics for the planter looking at colour shape and texture.
You will be able to choose your own botanical feature tiles from a selection of leaves, flowers and insects that have been hand-made by Jane du Rand. Those who attended the earlier botanical ceramics workshop will also have the option of using their own feature tiles for their planter.
All materials and equipment, including (19cm) plant pots and materials to make and plant out your mosaic will be supplied. The workshop registration fee includes a $20 voucher for a plant from Plant Empire to crown your completed mosaic pot.
All levels of plant experience welcome. Please wear closed shoes, clothes you can get dirty (or an apron), and bring your own gloves if you're allergic to latex. Morning and afternoon tea will be provided; please bring your own lunch (a fridge is available), or order in from Andonis café next door.
This workshop is targeted for adults but also suitable for teenagers; tweens are also welcome to attend when accompanied by an older sibling or guardian. All Plant Empire workshop presenters involving children are Blue Card holders.
