Pet Planter Workshop (16 & 23 May)
Pet Planter Workshop with Monte Lupo Arts: 10–1pm Saturday 16 & 23 May.
In this two-part workshop held over two weeks, you will learn from artist Kim Green from Monte Lupo Arts to sculpt and decorate your own unique ceramic pet planter. Kim will help you to create your artwork to reflect the image and personality of your own floofy, moggie or another animal of affection, and to serve as either a hanging or sitting planter to suit where you'd like to display the finish piece and the type of plant that you'd like it to hold.
In the first week's 3-hour workshop, you will learn a range of hand-building pottery techniques including: scoring and slipping; coil building; slab building; and mould pressing. Pieces will be fired in the week between workshops, and when you return in the second workshop, you will learn about underglaze for bisque ware and how to apply different painting and glazing techniques. Your glazed piece will be fired again following this second workshop, and finished pieces will be available for collection from Plant Empire from Monday 1 June.
All levels of experience are welcome for this workshop, and all materials and equipment for the workshop will be supplied. Participants outside of Brisbane are encouraged to attend: classes will be run by webinar for those who are unable to attend in person, either as a result of COVID19 restrictions or remote locations, with workshop materials supplied for collection, local or postal delivery (select your delivery option at checkout when registering).
This workshop is suitable adults and children over 10. All Plant Empire workshop presenters involving children are Blue Card holders.
