By artist: Marilyn Baldey

Acrylic on canvas, 1 x 1m

The painting is a scene where Gaia holds a plethora of flowers and seeds. Pan is blowing the breath of life onto the flame at the heart centre of Gaia. Rain runs down to enhance the fire and bursts the plants into life. Gaia is smiling and present. She is conscious that she and life are being rejuvenated in an eternal cycle of beauty and regeneration.

About the artist.

I have a Bachelor of Arts from the Queensland College of Art, 1988. Whilst still a student, I won the prestigious (then) Suncorp Art Award for drawing. During the last two years of study, I worked for the ABC TV as a court artist and I covered all of the Fitzgerald Inquiry. The ABC TV held an exhibition of my work at the Courthouse Restaurant which raised money for charity. I have had many solo and group exhibitions over the years and I have taught art classes. Currently I am enjoying experimenting with the acrylic flow medium style of painting. It is so unpredictable and there is a beauty that cannot be reproduced in any other application of paint. It has brought a new level of enthusiasm to my work and I encourage others to have a go too for the beauty and the fun.
