Wall Hearts Workshop (8 & 15 August)
Wall Hearts Workshop with Monte Lupo Arts: 10–1pm Saturday 8 & 15 August.
In this two-part workshop held over two Sundays, you will learn from artist Kim Green from Monte Lupo Arts to sculpt and decorate your own unique pair of hanging wall planters.
In the first week's 3-hour workshop, you will sculpt several 3-dimensional hearts in different sizes using a range of hand-building pottery techniques including: scoring and slipping; slab-building, and mould pressing. You can make as many hearts as you want in this session, although most students manage to complete around three hearts in three hours with their own choice of embellishments, such as flowers and insects. When you return in the second workshop, you will decorate your hearts using your choice of underglazes. Your pieces will be fired twice following this second workshop (the final time with a clear glaze), and finished pieces will be available for collection from Plant Empire from 22 August.
All levels of experience are welcome for this workshop, and all materials and equipment for the workshop will be supplied. We don't send workshop reminders after you've registered, but you don't need to bring anything on the day, except closed shoes and clothes you don't mind getting decorated with clay. This workshop is suitable for adults and children over 10 and all Plant Empire workshop presenters involving children are Blue Card holders.
