White Bat Plant (Tacca integrifolia) 175mm
The white bat plant (Tacca integrifolia) is so-named because of its unusual large flowers that resemble bats in full flight. This variety is rarer than the black bat plant, and also flowers later in summer, with long draping "whiskers" (more technically, filamentous bracteoles) than hang down 30-40cm from the flower bract.
The impact of this plant in full flower is stunning; however, it is worth growing this plant for its foliage alone. It has large bright green elegantly draping leaves that seem to be gently gathered against the midrib. The leaves make this plant truly beautiful all year round.
Bat plants are perfect for Brisbane's subtropical climate. They like consistent moisture and make great plants for indoors or a patio area, and can be grown in a well-drained position in shade outdoors. These are established plants growing in 175mm pots with leaves that reach about 70cm long. We also have larger (300mm) plants available, which are in full flower.
We deliver our plants locally and interstate, except for Western Australia, Tasmania and the Northern Territory for quarantine reasons. Plants requiring shipping are posted on Mondays to minimise
