Wreath Workshop (21 December 2019)
Wreath Workshop with Julya Hegarty: 10am–12 noon Saturday 21 December
Join weaver and ceramicist Julya Hegarty on 21 December to learn how to weave eco-friendly wreaths that you can use to celebrate the holiday season or to decorate your home all year round. In this workshop, you will produce two wreaths and have the opportunity to learn the art of random weaving along with basic coiling techniques. Participants will learn to weave with weeds and plants from the garden to create two beautiful seasonal wreaths.
Wreaths honour the cycle of life: you will have the pleasure of celebrating Christmas with your creative woven artwork, watching as it changes colour with age, then eventually returning the plants to the earth to feed your garden. You will decorate your bespoke creations with natural plant materials along with a selection of beautiful ceramic ornaments which have been handmade by Julya Hegarty and can be kept and re-used year after year.
Plant Empire's workbench honours everyone for their individuality and creative contributions: this introductory weaving course is suitable for all levels of weavers, from beginners to experienced individuals. All materials will be provided, including handmade ceramics made by Julya Hegarty.
