Zoysia tenuifolia is the cushion-like grass that is growing in the garden in front of our shop in Yeerongpilly. Its common names include "Temple grass" which point to its origins in south east Asia, and also "Patting grass" which are a result of its fine tufting leaves that demand to be touched. Not to be confused with Empire Zoysia grass which is a type of Buffalo grass, Zoysia tenuifolia never needs to be mowed. It will grow to form a lumpy rolling lawn that is fascinating to the eye and cushioning to lie on. It likes full sun to part shade positions with generous watering until it is established.
Our pots of Zoysia grass is growing in a 100mm pot with growth approximately 4cm long. Plant them 20-30cm apart for them to join and form a lush mat in 6-12 months.
