Nature Art Journal Workshop (9 May 2026)
Nature Art Journal Workshop with Megan Forward
10–1pm Saturday 9 May 2026
Artist Megan Forward invites you to explore the beauty of the natural world by learning how to make a nature art journal.
Journalling is a meditative practice involving illustration, painting and writing that you can use to document memories of places or things, mindfully attend to the natural world, or just develop your creativity and curiosity. Each journal is unique and contains ideas, small noticings, interesting observations and explorations.
This workshop gives you an opportunity to learn how to use a broad range of mixed media tools including watercolour, charcoal, pencil, ink, pastels, pen or collage. Megan will demonstrate how to use each of these mediums and to mix colours, and you’ll be able to explore different tools through some observational drawing exercises that have the aim of helping you "learn to see".
To start this workshop, Megan will explain how nature art journalling works, and share some examples of her own nature art journals that she has created over time. As you start journalling on your own, you’ll have lots of time to create multiple leaves or one large work with Megan sharing techniques and ideas as you work. You will work in a concertina paper panel, which can read like a book, or fold-out as a long panel.
Materials
Megan will supply all the materials you need for this workshop; but you are also welcome to bring in your own seeds, leaves, flowers or other items from nature for your journal.
Who Should Attend?
This workshop is suitable for all skill levels, from absolute beginners to advanced students who would like to learn from Megan.
