Break Through
Break Through
By artist: Sheryl Johnson
Ceramics. 27 x 26 x 9 cm
This is a piece for your garden, an outdoor setting or even indoors where it can be interesting and intriguing during the day and, with the addition of a light source, it can break through the shadows at night. The light will shine through the holes and make wonderful patterns on your walls, ceiling or garden.
About the artist.
I love the exploration and experimentation opportunities that ceramics give me to regularly try new ideas. All of my work is hand-built and ranges from garden sculptures to vases, wall hangings, decorated spheres and kitchenware. The pieces I create always include some form of texture, pattern or decorative 3D sculptural elements created using fabric, ceramic tools, stamps, and cutters. I also love colour which is always carefully thought out and incorporated into my work. Most pieces make use of underglazes, commercial crystal glazes and usually a combination of gloss and matte clear glaze to finish the pieces. I love to make items that are unique, one-of-a-kind, sometimes quirky and unusual, but always different. As they are hand-built, no two pieces are ever the same. I have worked in art in some capacity, whether full-time, part-time or as a hobbyist, since the 1990s exploring painting, textile art, mosaics and ceramics.
