Online Lino Print Workshop (11 October 2026)
Online Lino Print Workshop with Hayley Moody
10–1pm Sunday 11 October 2026
Discover the fundamentals of lino printing live online with instructor Hayley Moody in this 3-hour introductory session on the timeless art of lino printing to learn how to design, cut and print onto paper.
Our popular linoprint workshop is going live online! Learn the complete creative process—from conceptualising your design through carving and transferring prints onto paper. Perfect for beginners seeking hands-on instruction in this versatile printmaking medium.
This workshop will be held online via webinar, and starts with a quick look at the style of lino print and its origins, after which Hayley will explain the visual style and elements of good design when it comes to this art medium. Hayley will demonstrate how to translate a design and use various lino cutting tools to create different shapes onto lino. Once you’re in the groove of carving, you will then cut a simple design, roll paint onto the lino and print your first lino print onto different types of paper. We will then move on to experiment with this design to explore different lino printing techniques including reduction and jigsaw.
As you build your confidence in lino printing, you will have the opportunity to design your own lino print and transfer it onto the tile to carve, paint and print onto cards using a press made from everyday items in your home. You will make several paper prints with your designs, as well as your finished lino prints that you can continue to re-use following the workshop.
Materials and Collection
All materials and equipment to make your lino prints will be supplied as part of a kit that we will post to you ahead of the workshop (or which you can collect in person from Plant Empire), including lino carving tools, paints and papers. It's not necessary to use a fancy printing press for this artform: Hayley will show you how to print at home using everyday items like spoons. Please wear closed shoes and an apron if you are worried about staining your clothes.
How to Join?
You will receive a link from Plant Empire via email in the week prior to the workshop with instructions on how to login to the workshop webinar online. This is a live event with no recording. To ensure the best experience for attendees, places will be strictly limited for this event, so register early to ensure you have a seat in the workshop.
