Jardiniere Workshop (2 & 16 December 2023)
Jardiniere Workshop with Monte Lupo Arts: 10–1pm Saturday 2 & 16 December 2023.
In this two-part workshop held over two Saturday mornings, you will learn from artist Fiona Haynes from Monte Lupo Arts to sculpt and decorate your own unique jardiniere (that's French for "fancy planter"!).
In the first week's 3-hour workshop, you will learn a range of hand-building pottery techniques including: scoring and slipping; coil building; slab building; and mould pressing. The jardinieres pictured feature cupids, and you are welcome to use these designs as inspiration, or personalise your own planter with insignia that is meaningful to you, or let its unique personality reveal itself to you as you create!
When you return in the second workshop, you will learn about underglazing for bisque ware and practise applying different painting and glazing techniques. Your glazed piece will be fired twice following this second workshop (the final time with a clear glaze). Finished pieces will be available for collection from Plant Empire one week after the second workshop.
All levels of experience are welcome for this workshop, and all materials and equipment for the workshop will be supplied. We don't send workshop reminders, so please be sure to add this event to your calendar as soon as you've registered. You don't need to bring anything on the day, except closed shoes and clothes you don't mind getting decorated with clay. This workshop is suitable for adults and children over 10 and all Plant Empire workshop presenters involving children are Blue Card holders.
